Caern the Elder, Regent of Newton


Sir Caern the elder was the uncle to Sir Baelorn and Sir Jaern. He acted as the lord regent of Newton, squiring the young Sir Baelorn. He later served as its steward. He was exceptionally just, generous, and brave. He was killed by Saxons when they took the castle of Du Plain in 507 A.D. It is said the Saxons ate the dead, and his corpse had been dismembered.
